Revisit: Balance

Revisit: Balance

Throughout my life, my balance has been up, down, or all around, as it is for almost all of us. It’s a topic that is talked about in both personal development, self-help, business, and even religious courses. Balance is just critically important to human nature. We all know it, but often times we’re just out of balance. I certainly have been. There have been times in my life when I’ve been so focused on relationships that my business or personal goals have gone to the sidelines. Or I’ve been so focused on my health and fitness, that actually my relationships have suffered. Or perhaps my spirituality or my mental development. I know for me, as an athlete growing up, physical fitness was always extremely important. Now, this ended up helping my relationships but my spirituality actually suffered. That’s where I put on the wayside. So I was really out of balance and not really feeling fulfilled.

Do It For The Photo

Do It For The Photo

Do it for the photo. Whatever it takes. Right now there’s somebody outside hiking. There’s somebody outside swimming with sharks. Why? Because they’re doing it for the Instagram photo.

Social media’s pushed us in ways that we never thought possible. There are people out there doing crazy things. They’re becoming the authors of their own story just so they could rub it in other peoples’ faces or just so they could show people how great their lives are. I think that’s fantastic.

Who are you?

Who are you?

Now, who are you? I mean, if I were to ask you “who are you?”, you’d probably give me a standard response, what you do for a living, where you live, maybe a couple of your interests. But really at the core, who are you, and have you taken time to actually write that down?

So that’s one of the things I want you to do is grab your journal right now. Write down, “Who am I?” Write down what comes to your mind … What comes to your mind, and what comes through to your heart. Who are you as a person? What are your values? What are your interests? What are those things that move you and gravitate you to a higher level?

Your Driving Force

Your Driving Force

Today I’m going to give you a brief, brief introduction to the six human needs, or the driving force of human nature. Now this is something that I learned in a course I took a long time ago called Date with Destiny, and I still use it today. It’s also something we do a very deep dive into The Author of Your Own Story University, but for this episode, what I want to do is just cover the basics for you, just so you can get an introduction to something that you can use right away.

5 Second Rule

5 Second Rule

The five-second rule. No, I’m not talking about the rule that allows you to drop food on the ground and pick it up within five seconds, and it’s still good to eat. That’s something a lot of kids do, and a lot of you adults probably do too.

I’m talking about something totally different. I’m talking about a methodology that Mel Robbins brought to the mainstream. She’s written several books, she’s done tons of Ted Talks, and talks with interviews on podcasts, all around the world. If you haven’t had a chance to see Mel, I highly recommend it. Go to YouTube, she’s got several interviews that go in depth in the five-second rule, and her story. Very inspirational. Truly someone who’s living the Author of Your Own Story lifestyle.
