You’re A Product of What You Do Regularly

You’re A Product of What You Do Regularly

Here we are coming to the end of the month, the end of March and the end of the first fiscal, or first quarter, in 2018. So if you’re watching this while these are released live, this is a perfect time for you to go right now and mark your calendar, mark off time to go back and reflect on this past quarter, these past three months. What have you been doing? Here’s what I would suggest. Now, obviously, if you’re a business owner, this should be a practice that you’re doing in your business to look at three stages. So your net, your gross, and your take-home pay. Those are three numbers that you want to be looking at each and every week when you’re actually doing a review.

To Laugh or To Cry?

To Laugh or To Cry?

Just a couple days ago I was doing a therapy session, and it was actually with a trainer. He said, “This is experimental, Doug. I’m just letting you know. We’re actually going to put a cement block” … almost like a foam roller if you can picture it. It was actually PVC piping. I think it was about eight inches in diameter filled with cement, so it was heavy. I think it was about 75 pounds. … “and I’m going to put it on your back and put pressure and roll it back and forth.”

The Outside World Can’t Control You

The Outside World Can’t Control You

When I say the outside world can’t control you, what do I mean? Well, how often do you hear someone complaining about something outside? You know, “My work is stressful, it’s overwhelming me.” Or “My husband or my wife frustrates me.” Or “My business partner drives me nuts.” I hear this all the time as a coach, but also just as a friend of so many people who reach out to me.

What’s Your Lowest Set Point?

What’s Your Lowest Set Point?

Just recently I was taking care of my sick wife and child. Now, this is to me it’s something I’m actually really enjoyed, I’m grateful that I have the ability to do that. I’ve created a lifestyle for myself and for my family where I don’t have to work if I don’t want to. It’s complete freedom, and part of that comes to a responsibility as a husband and as a parent. When those times come, when both my child and my wife are sick at the same time, for me to step up and step into that role. Well, of course, they got better, which I was so happy to see, but it was my turn. I fell down and I got sick.

Do What You’re Born To Do

Do What You’re Born To Do

You know, when a dog trainer goes into a home to work with a disciplined dog or a dog with disciplinary problems. The first question they often ask the owner is, “Do you walk your dog?” Now the reason they ask this is because dogs are animals, animals that were born and bred to move. They were born to work, right. And so when dogs are limited in their mobility or taken away the actual ability to go roam and be active, one of the first things they do is act out. They tear up the furniture. They start eating chairs. They start barking a lot because they don’t know what to do. It’s their way of acting out, right, because they’re not doing what they were born to do.
