Compress Time And Shorten The Gap

Compress Time And Shorten The Gap

Often times when we’re looking at doing something we take the DIY approach to it. There’s nothing wrong with that. Often times we wanna learn a foreign language, we might buy audio cassettes, we might buy a book, we might do some research online. When it comes to our body, maybe it’s working out, maybe we decide we wanna get a subscription to men’s fitness or women’s fitness and maybe we buy a book or two or maybe even take a class. But how often do we actually take that goal and compress the time? Compress the time and shorten the gap from where we are today to where we wanna be. Now, the key to this is finding somebody who’s been there and done that and can actually help us along the way.

Revisit: Rainmakers Always Have A Seat At The Table

Revisit: Rainmakers Always Have A Seat At The Table

I was recently talking to a tech entrepreneur, and they were doing great. But the problem that they were having is, they didn’t have a consistent cash flow coming in. They’re marketing was working, their processes were working, but sales just didn’t seem to be happening. It seemed to be happenstance. And when we were having a conversation I asked him, “Do you have a rainmaker on your team?” And he said, “What is that?” Well, a rainmaker in business or in sales is commonly someone who is able to make it rain. They’re able to consistently bring in new business, new leads, and new sales consistently to your business line.

The Importance of Knowing Yourself

The Importance of Knowing Yourself

I was having a conversation with an organizer who organizes high-level events for entrepreneurs and business people. Now, this is an invite-only event on top of a mountain and you can guess kind of what this event is like. Now, I was very honored to be considered and to be recommended to be an invitee to this event. And during the conversation which is essentially an interview to see if you can get accepted, so to speak, but during the conversation, I asked him his story. I want to know what made him tick and why he started these events.

Revisit: Good Is The Enemy Of Great

Revisit: Good Is The Enemy Of Great

Hey, how are you doing today? What most people will respond is, “I’m doing okay,” or “I’m doing good.” I’m here to tell you, as the Author of Your Own Story, good is the enemy of great. Why? Well, you already know that your physiology affects the way you do things, right? If you’re slumped over, you’re down, it makes you depressed. They’ve done studies that just by putting your shoulders back and smiling for over 30 days can clear depression. Now, how crazy is that? Of course, yeah, you can take drugs, and there are all kinds of things to cure clinical depression, but they did a study, just your body’s physiology.

The Truth About Getting Rich

The Truth About Getting Rich

Now, I’ve had a conversation with two different business owners over the past week, which brings me to this conversation with you on how to get rich. Now, both of these business owners had an idea. They’d seen people on social media advertising their marketplace, the way that they do it, right? And it was kind of that flashy tone, the Bentley, the nice house, the vacations, the stuff that all of us probably want.

Where Do You Go To Fill Your Soul?

Where Do You Go To Fill Your Soul?

Here I am along the beautiful river, and often times, if you’ve followed me on social media or got a chance to get to know me, you know this is exactly where my wife and I go to fill our cups. This is why we a lifestyle that allows us to travel. We’ve actually wrote this down many years ago, what kind of life do we really want? What are those areas that fill our cup, that really fill our soul? When we wrote these down, what came up was being by fresh water, being out in the mountains. And so we made that a reality.

Shake Up Your Patterns

Shake Up Your Patterns

When I go throughout my day, I often times do things differently. I deliberately walk different paths, I deliberately drive different routes to the same place, and the reason I do this is because years ago, in fact, maybe even a decade ago, I recall hearing someone speak and what they were talking about is how your brain functions; it functions with creativity. Often times as humans, we’re creatures of habit, even though we don’t know it, right?

Do Your Work

Do Your Work

Now, I had a conversation just yesterday with somebody, and the conversation went something like this, they said, “Doug, I just feel like I’m spinning my wheels. I’m not getting anywhere in my relationship, my business, or my health. What do you think man? What do you think I can do here?”

Just Breathe

Just Breathe

I had a great conversation with a coaching client of mine this morning. What came up was something that comes up often. Now it can come up in interpersonal relationships most often. That’s the idea of getting triggered. When you get triggered, or you get stressed, or you get anxious, and oftentimes this happens with people that we’re most close to because they know our buttons, and we let them in a little bit more.

Striving For Perfection

Striving For Perfection

Earlier this morning, I had a great day. I’ve actually ended up meeting my family later on in the morning, and they were having breakfast, and they were so kind that they ordered me a breakfast burrito. I’m not talking about any breakfast burrito, I’m talking about a delicious breakfast burrito with all the fixings. Yes, it was organic, and it had all this nutrients in it, but it was a breakfast burrito. Let’s not call it what it wasn’t.

Be True To Yourself

Be True To Yourself

Just earlier this week, I was talking to an entrepreneur on LinkedIn. They had sent me an inquiry asking about my coaching services. After further investigation, what really was coming into it was he was looking at a career change. Should I start a new business and leave the current company I’m in? Should I go study philosophy at the university? Should I take time off and travel?

Name Your Former Self

Name Your Former Self

I just got off a client call with a client of mine in the UK and we’re talking about 2017 versus where we started from, which was actually at the beginning February of 2017, to where he is today and where he is today in all areas of his life, not just his business, although that’s originally why he hired me.

Throw Your Old Dogmas Away & Get Out of the Dogma House

Throw Your Old Dogmas Away & Get Out of the Dogma House

All of us in life have dogmas, external dogmas or ideologies that are placed upon us, things that we just assume to be true, things that we’ve always things we should do, right? You’ve heard that term in these daily growth hacks that you don’t want to should all over yourself. We have these “shoulds”. I should spend more time with my family. I should work more. I should go to the gym. I should get up at 4:00 in the morning. I should stay up ’til 2:00 in the morning working. The shoulds go on and on.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! The new year’s a time of rebirth, a time of cleansing, a time to start over. Yeah, it’s an arbitrary day on a calendar, but still, it’s a great time to not only reflect on the past but to really be present and move forward into your own future, into your own story. As your story shifts and changes, how do you actually navigate those waters? I’d like to give you a couple resources. We did a seven-day course, Seven Days to Becoming the Author of Your Own Story. It’s totally free. There are no catches. There are no gimmicks. This is a course we filmed a little over two years ago, I think, at this point. It’s me talking, but also giving exercises.

Reflection

Reflection

Here we are the day before the New Year. This is a time of natural reflection. A time where we can look back, go through our journals, look at old pictures, and see what we’ve accomplished in 2017. Now, what I want you to do is actually consider the possibility that you’ve forgotten a lot of the accomplishments that you’ve achieved. That you’ve forgotten in your Five to Thrive, all the growth that you’ve had. And oftentimes what we look at are the things that we did not achieve. We focus on those tasks, those business sales calls that we didn’t make, or we weren’t able to actually connect with. Those aspects of our lives that we didn’t get, rather than focusing on all that we have. The abundance that’s actually inside of us, an inside of our lives.

Fighting Mediocrity

Fighting Mediocrity

In a conversation I had with a friend of mine, we were talking about goals and how people actually strive for goals and New Years resolutions. Now often times if you look at the statistics, New Year’s resolutions just don’t play out. And why is that? It’s because a lot of us just settle. We set these goals on an arbitrary timeline and then we just settle for mediocrity right. We settle for what was or the easy path.

See the Obvious

See the Obvious

There’s an old saying that goes something like this: only the most foolish of mice would hide in a cat’s ear, but only the wisest of cats would ever think to look there. Now, I love this saying as I related it to a client of mine. I was talking about his business, but I think about this in all of our five to thrive. How often do we, actually, as people that are alphas … We’re out there just doing more in the world, right? You’re listening to a podcast. You’re watching me speak. Whatever it is that you’re digesting this content, you’re choosing to be here now.

Why Aren’t You A 10?

Why Aren’t You A 10?

I just got back from a three-hour ruck with a business owner where I did a coaching session with him. Now, if you’re not familiar with what a ruck, a ruck is really when you fill a backpack up with weight. In this case, it happened to be over 20 pounds, and you go for a walk or a hike really. What we decided to do is meet for one of our coaching sessions and actually do a ruck. Actually, do a long walk while we talked and had a conversation.
